Around 100 km away from Bialystok, is the holy mountain Grabarka. For hundreds of years,
Orthodox have been coming to this mountain, carrying a cross, which they have planted on the
mountain with a prayer. Miracles are said to happen here. There is also a spring on the mountain,
and drinking or bathing with the water, can heal people. Now there is a church on the mountain, and around the church there are hundreds of crosses. There is also a nonnery at the mountain, and the Fellowship own a house for pilgrims.
There is an annual pilgrimage on 18 August, where people walk to the mountain with their cross as a thankful votive. Later the crosses are set around the temple witch made a kind of a dense wood.
Tradition is speaking, that in time of the Mongolian attack in XIII century, monks from the city Mielnik was shelter at mount. Dense woods of Mielnik Forest gived him perfect refuge, here. The monks was take adored icon of the Spas Izbawnik (the Salvator) from Mielnik church. Special cult of the Salvator associated from this place, as seen in name chapel, and future church.
